You can customize the message players see when they connect by editing the WelcomeMessage setting in your server configuration.

Step 1: Stop the Server

  1. Log in to the game panel at gamepanel.fourseasonshosting.com.
  2. Open your Vintage Story server.
  3. Stop the server before editing its configuration files.

Step 2: Edit the Welcome Message

  1. Go to the Files section.
  2. Open the data folder.
  3. Locate and open serverconfig.json.
  4. Search for the WelcomeMessage setting.
  5. Change the text inside the quotation marks to your desired message.
You can use {0} to automatically insert the username of the player joining the server. For example:
Make sure the message remains enclosed in double quotes so the JSON file stays valid.

Step 3: Save and Restart

  1. Save your changes to serverconfig.json.
  2. Start your Vintage Story server.
Your custom message will be displayed to players when they join the server and will also appear in the public server listing.
