Listing Your Vintage Story Server on the Public Server List

On FSH, public listing is on by default — the Advertise To Public List
setting defaults to true, so your server registers itself with the public
Vintage Story server browser automatically. This guide shows how to confirm or
change it.
Edit the Startup tab, not the file. Your server applies the Advertise To
Public List
value on every start, so editing AdvertiseServer directly in
serverconfig.json won't stick — it gets overwritten on the next boot. Always
change it on the Startup tab.

Turn Listing On or Off#

1.
Log in to the FSH Panel.
2.
Stop the server.
3.
Open the Startup tab.
4.
Find Advertise To Public List and flip the toggle:
On — list the server publicly (default)
Off — keep it unlisted (join by direct IP only)
5.
Start the server.
That's it. Player authentication (required for a server to be listed at all) is
kept enabled automatically, so you don't need to configure anything else.

How Players Find It#

Once listed, players open Multiplayer → Public Servers in-game and can search
for your server by its Server Name (the value set in the Server Name
Startup variable).

Troubleshooting — Not Appearing#

Give it a few minutes. The public list updates on a delay after the server
starts.
Check Advertise To Public List = true on the Startup tab (not in the file).
Make sure the server is reachable. The game port (default 42420) must be
open for both TCP and UDP. If players also can't connect by direct IP, the
port/allocation is the problem, not the listing.
Version match. Players on a different Vintage Story version than the server
won't be able to join even if they see it — keep the server up to date.
Search the exact name. Match the Server Name value; a unique name is
easier to find in a crowded list.
